Nice perform and windows 7

To be fair, passwords made up of random characters provide excellent security, and the only time you need the password is when you first connect a new PC to a HomeGroup. A version that also worked on XP, Vista, and Mac systems would have been cooler. Federated Search, a new Windows Explorer feature, feels incomplete, too.

That capability allows you to search sites such as Flickr and YouTube from within Explorer. They are available on the Web, though. Use a search engine to track them down. UAC aimed to prevent rogue software from tampering with your PC by endlessly prompting you to approve running applications or changing settings.

The experience was so grating that many users preferred to turn UAC off and take their chances with Internet attackers. Those who left it active risked slipping into the habit of incautiously clicking through every prompt, defeating whatever value the feature might have had.

Windows 7 gives you control over UAC, in the form of a slider containing four security settings. As before, you can accept the full-blown UAC or elect to disable it. Windows Media Player 12 has a revised interface that divides operations into a Library view for media management and a Now Playing view for listening and watching stuff.

Among its enhancements are a better program guide and support for more tuners. Though Microsoft corrects that deficiency in Windows 7, it deprives Windows 7 Starter Edition and Home Premium of the ability to back up to a network drive.

But my regimen for preparing a new Windows PC for use will still include installing the impressive free image editor Paint. The nearest thing Windows 7 has to a major new application has the intriguing moniker Windows XP Mode.

Microsoft clearly means for the mode to serve as a security blanket for business types who rely on ancient, often proprietary programs that may never be rewritten for current OSs. Windows 7 offers you numerous ways to connect your PC to everything from tiny flash drives to hulking networked laser printers—USB, Wi-Fi, ethernet, slots, and more.

Earlier prerelease versions of Win 7 contained a handful of Device Stages, but Microsoft disabled them so that hardware manufacturers could finish up final ones before the OS hit store shelves in October. What would be nice is if Microsoft designed an interface theme that was the same though out Windows and told developers to use the same interface this would make Windows much easier to use.

For anyone who has ever used Vista you will have come across the UAC. Rather than the on or off selection of UAC in Vista, which either meant being annoyed every two minutes or being open to potential threats, there is a slider with different levels of notification. We have found the second from bottom to be the best for everyday use. Anyone who has used Windows before will have used Windows Explorer in a very regular basis. Windows 7 has changed the way files are stored and managed.

There are now libraries for Documents, Music, Pictures and Videos. This means that if you have documents in multiple locations you can set the Documents library to look in those locations when you click on the Documents link. You can create your own libraries with your own locations.

The only problem we have with this is that you never truly know where you files are and can lead to files being all over your machine. Personally we like the documents to be in one location it just makes things easier. Avoid like the plague on Windows 7. We have been using Windows 7 since mid August and IE crashes numerous times on a daily basis.

Not only is the new version 8 slow but it does not conform to the new internet standards and therefore some websites simply will not work. If you are currently using these programs, you will need to import your data into Windows Live Mail or another email program after installation.

Before installation, it's a good idea to back up your files, even if you are only doing a simple upgrade. If you are doing a custom clean installation, you will need to back up and transfer your files and settings.

You will also need to gather your installation discs to reinstall any programs. For programs that were downloaded from the Internet, you may be able to download them again; if not, you'll need to back them up before upgrading.

Microsoft recommends using Windows Easy Transfer to back up and transfer your files and settings. A detailed tutorial on this process will be linked in the next part of this lesson. As previously mentioned, you may want to consider using a computer service professional because performing a custom clean installation has the potential to become quite complicated. All programs should be reinstalled in clean install cases after the Windows 7 setup is completed.

If you point to an other partition than the current OS exists, you can build a multiboot system. One important note on Windows 7 Custom installation is if there exists a previous version of Windows on the partition you targeted for the custom install and you don't manually format or delete the partition, all user files are kept in a private folder named Windows.

After the Win7 installation is completed, you can copy and paste from Windows. In fact Windows Easy Transfer grants an easy and alternate method of backing up personal data and settings in order to restore back later.

Before you begin starting Windows 7 installation read the following check list in order to prevent data loss and misunderstandings. If you have decided to install bit Windows 7 edition, be sure that your computer has a bit processor. If you are using Microsoft Windows Vista and want to upgrade your system to Windows 7 from Vista, you can consider to get the latest updates for a more convenient upgrade.

But I you prefer a clean install rather than upgrade Vista to Windows 7, you might select not to continue updating your present Vista OS. You can directly continue with the Windows 7 setup. So select the first option for a Windows 7 upgrade from Vista, and select the second uption for clean install.

If you make a clean install and select a different partition for Windows 7 other than the partition where Vista resides, you can have Windows 7 and Windows Vista running side by side. The checkbox at the bottom of the screen "I want to help make Windows installation better" is for enabling the Windows system to send Windows 7 experiences and logs, or possible error details to Microsoft to be used for a better installation experience in future.

If you have questions about the security of your private information by selecting this option you can click the link "What information will be sent to Microsoft? In this screen of the installation wizard, users can select to Upgrade or proceed with a new copy of Windows 7 by selecting the Custom advanced option. If you choose Upgrade to Windows 7, you will upgrade to a newer version of Windows Windows 7 RTM and will keep your existing files, settings and programs.

It is recommended to backup your files in case of an error not to lose your valuable information. If you choose Custom advanced setup, this will install a new Windows 7 operating system on your computer. In this case, your files, settings and programs are not kept and you have to install your programs again after the installation of Windows 7 is completed and migrate your program settings manually.

You should backup your files manually to a different partition where you want to install the operating system on or store your files on an external storage disk.
