I found no reviews from reliable sources. It's old and she's about ready to replace it but I was surprized that it slowed to a crawl a few ago.
I thought UniBlue might speed it up but I am dubious. Any thoughts. I am new this forum. Joined Aug 1, Messages 51, Don't use "registry boosters", or cleaners. They all cause trouble sooner or later, to a greater or lesser degree.
Slow machines have malware, missing registry keys from cleaners, disk errors, or too many programs running. Thank you Elvandil, That is very helpful information. What little objective material I could find on the web about registry boosters was not positive. Was this reply helpful? Yes No. Sorry this didn't help. Thanks for your feedback. Its a snake-oil registry program that will cause problems and fix little. If needed you Revo Uninstaller - Free Version to remove it - you can even re-install UniBlue and then use Revo to remove it - does not matter if UniBlue will run or not.
Accumulating unneeded and invalid registry entries can hinder performance, and various registry errors can affect the stability of your applications.
Some of these features include:. The recommended minimum system requirements are as follows:. Additionally, as the Registry Booster is less than 10MB is size, the installation was extremely fast. Users are permitted to choose where they would like to install the Registry Booster, and whether or not they would like to have desktop and quick launch icons created. Using a unique tab-like system, everything was well laid out and easy to find.
I was surprised at how quickly the utility scanned my entire registry, and shocked to see that it had reported a total of registry errors. While most of the errors were linked to missing paths and unneeded entries caused from adding and removing applications, I was completely unaware that my registry contained a total of errors.
Before allowing the Registry Booster to make any changes to the registry, the software will prompt the user to back-up before proceeding. However, when I sat down to think about it, it actually made a lot of sense; hard drives become fragmented even after relatively moderate usage, and since we constantly are making changes to the registry, it can develop fragments over time as well. After running the defragmenting utility, the Registry Booster will prompt you to restart your computer for the changes to take effect.
Therefore, I can only assume that similar changes in system performance will occur within other operating systems. Before testing my machine, I rigorously installed and uninstalled various freeware applications. Most of the errors found were of the missing, orphaned, and unneeded variety. The results of the following tests demonstrate how repairing registry errors that are associated with adding and removing programs can affect system performance. Being an avid computer enthusiast, even the tiniest improvements in system performance make me ecstatic.
The scanning, repairing, and defragmenting utilities did exactly what they were supposed to and there was a definite boost in system performance. Comments for this article have now been closed. This was done because people were using as a means of getting Uniblue support.
Users of both Windows Task Manager accessible through the CTRL-ALT-DEL keyboard sequence as well as chatty personal firewalls ones that often warn us about how some obscurely named software process is trying to gain access to the Internet have few resources to turn to when it comes to looking up what those processes do.
In the same update that I got from Uniblue was mention of new version of its registry optimizing utility RegistryBooster 2. Residual files, unused and undeleted drivers, and corrupt or bad entries in registry settings will quickly litter even the newest of computers. The result? Frequent error messages, slow start-ups, declining and poor performance and registry integrity, unstable and frequent application errors and crashes, and, at times, even an inability to start Windows. RegistryBooster 2 is the safest and most trusted solution to clean and optimise your system, free it from registry errors and fragmented entries.
Through Advanced Error Detection Technology, RegistryBooster 2 automatically identifies missing, corrupt, or invalid items in your Windows registry and dramatically enhances performance and general stability. One question that comes to mind is, "Does RegistryBooster 2 do its job? Then next question is, "If it actualy does its job, what does that say for the versions of Windows on which it makes this big difference?
